    marlenne sq


    Marlenne Doss received her LLB from Queen’s University in 2004 and was called to the bar in 2005. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and brings a breadth of experience to her practice.

    Having previously practiced in a firm specializing in immigration law in Toronto, she gained ample experience in the field, moving on later to act as an instructor of paralegal and law clerk courses. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and various tribunals including the Immigration and Refugee Board.

    Moving to a prominent firm specializing in intellectual property law, Marlenne gained exposure to a broad range of corporate, trade-mark, patent, tribunal and Federal Court of Appeal work. She leveraged her previous experiences and founded her own practice in 2008, specializing in the areas of immigration, real estate, wills and estates and corporate law ever since.

    Marlenne brings her wide ranging skills to Aion Law Partners LLP as a founding partner, priding herself on providing the service and experience of a large firm without losing the personal touch, client care and compassion of a small firm.

    Marlenne is also actively involved in providing seminars on various legal topics to her community and to various businesses. Outside of the legal world, Marlenne enjoys travelling, cooking, the theatre, cultural activities and time with her family.

    Emma received her JD from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2009 and was called to the bar in 2010. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Women’s Law Association and the Canadian Hispanic Bar Association.

    While having focused her practice on real estate for over ten years, Emma loves the interplay of estate planning and corporate law as well. She currently focuses her practice in these areas. Believing in educating her clients and the community alike, she frequently provides lectures and seminars to various agencies and organizations on issues related to the firm’s focal areas of business. She is also bilingual and fluent in written and spoken Spanish.

    As a founding partner of Aion Law Partners LLP, Emma is deeply committed to empowering her clients by setting the highest of standards as well as providing them with personal and comprehensive legal services. Working with both large and small clients, uncompromising dedication and commitment are at the core of her practice. From the purchase of property to various investments and business ventures, and ultimately planning a legacy, she takes pride in being part of her clients’ journey through success.

    While appreciating the complexities that come with the practice of law, Emma loves to be lighthearted. She believes working with a lawyer should be a great experience and her personable approach is her trademark.

    Kamilah Joseph is a Law Clerk at Aion Law Partners LLP, and also serves as our Client Ambassador. Kamilah has experience working in various law firms for the last thirteen years with a primary focus on real estate. She has the ability to work effectively with staff and is an incredible asset to the firm. Her responsibilities include drafting documents, title searching, working with clients to successfully complete transactions. She is known for her commitment and professionalism in the field. She also has a Certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies Boards and Tribunals from York University. She is always looking for new challenges.

    Jessa Conmigo received her LLB from the University of Birmingham in the UK. She was called to the bar in 2021. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, the Women’s Law Association, and the Toronto Lawyers’ Association.

    She started off her legal career in residential real estate, specializing in purchases of preconstruction condominiums in Toronto and surrounding areas. Prior to practicing law, she worked as a Financial Analyst in the film and television industry and obtained a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Osgoode PD.

    Having a wide range of experiences in client focused positions, providing a quality client experience has always been a top priority for Jessa. She takes pride in being accessible to and personable with her clients. She is excited to broaden her areas of legal expertise in Wills and Estates, Immigration and Corporate law at Aion Law Partners LLP. Having lived in four different countries, Jessa loves to travel and explore new places while immersing herself in the culture. She also loves to cook and enjoys experimenting with new and eclectic recipes.

    Norman MacDonald is a tenacious litigator with over twenty-five years of litigation and dispute resolution experience in a wide array of civil and criminal matters. He has zealously represented clients before all courts in Ontario, the Federal Court of Canada, the Tax Court of Canada, the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal of Bermuda, in international arbitrations and mediations, and before various boards and administrative tribunals. Judges have described his litigation style as “skillful and persuasive”, “take no prisoners”, and a “very skillful cross-examiner”.

    He has wide international experience, having worked in Finland, the Netherlands England, and Bermuda as an in-house counsel for the BBC Worldwide, Ericsson, and the Government of Bermuda.

    He served as the acting Solicitor-General of Bermuda and Senior Crown Counsel where he successfully represented the Government of Bermuda on a number of high-profile and complex cases.

    Prior to that, he was in private practice in Toronto where he had a successful practice in tax litigation/dispute resolution, employment law, and commercial litigation. As part of his tax resolution practice, he also developed expertise in advising private clients in offshore trusts, international business corporations, business/investment immigration in tax haven jurisdictions, and other asset protection vehicles.

    He was also a professor of Employment Law, Human Rights, Canadian Business Law, and International Business Law at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology and George Brown College, both in Toronto.

    He is an LL.M. graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science and holds a Juris Doctorate from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

    A former Bay Street lawyer, Shubham is an experienced corporate commercial lawyer with a keen interest in helping startups as well as small to mid-size businesses. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in the top 3% of his class. He has worked at some of the top-tier law firms in downtown Toronto. The long hours and complex nature of legal practice on Bay Street drilled into him robust professionalism, diligence, creativity and a strong work ethic.

    He is dedicated to serving our clients in a manner that is fair, reasonable, respectful and transparent. Shubham sees professionalism and empathy not at odds with each other but as a pair of complementary skills that makes a lawyer not just a great legal professional but also a great legal service provider.

    On the rare occasions when he is not immersed in his busy legal practice, he enjoys exploring the world and learning languages. A fun fact about Shubham: he can speak 9 languages. Shubham looks forward to connecting with you.

    Astha Dhanda

    Astha is a licensed Barrister & Solicitor with the Law Society of Ontario and is a member of the South Asian Bar Association. She is an astute litigator and negotiator, and has represented clients in mediations, settlement conferences and family meetings. Her areas of practice include civil litigation with a focus on estate litigation, real estate disputes and shareholder disputes and family law. She practices at the tribunal, superior court, federal and divisional court (appellate) level.

    Astha graduated from the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute, Turin, Italy with an LLM in International Criminal Law and received her BA LLB from National University of Juridical Science, a top tier law school in India. She has co-authored a book (Victims’ Assistance in India, Suggesting Legislative Reform, A Comprehensive Comparative Policy Review) and various other papers in international journals and books. She has presented her in depth research and policy suggestion at conferences across the globe. She was awarded the International Global Law and Policy scholarship by Harvard Law School in 2018. She has taught at law schools in India and worked at the International Bar Association in London, UK, before moving to Canada.

    Astha has a well-rounded global legal experience and has a knack for making people around her feel comfortable in sharing their life stories and issues. She is empathetic and has an eye for detail and is open to new ideas and solution. She is a litigator who believes in finding the most time and cost-effective resolution for her clients.

    If not a lawyer, Astha would have been an artist as she loves to paint. Her favorite artist is Picasso, and she loves talking about art and travel. She is an ardent reader and finds the work of Murakami intriguing

    I'm a member of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, licence # R415607. I have been licensed within the profession since October 2011. I worked as a legal assistant for 2 years for an immigration and family lawyer. I attained my Legal Assistant Diploma from Herzing College in 2005, and then obtained my Immigration Consultant Diploma from York College of Industry and Technology in 2006.
    My passion began when I dealt with my own unique immigration matter. I self-represented my ex-spouse's immigration matter, appealed a negative decision to the Immigration Appeal Division and successfully won the appeal.
    I also taught the Immigration Consultant instructor course at CDI College for 3 years.

    Ali Shahidi

    Ali Shahidi received his LLB from the University of Leicester in the UK, as well as a degree in Public Policy and Administration from York University in Toronto. He is experienced with multiple real estate projects and has a massive interest in both real estate and immigration law. Ali has lived in three countries, has travelled to 25 countries and takes pride in being familiar with different cultures and backgrounds, which helps him develop high-quality relationships with every client. Besides his work, Ali is very active in the sports community, and his other passion is helping young athletes shape and achieve their goal, as he did as a young athlete.

    Steven is the Business Manager at Aion Law Partners LLP. With his extensive experience in private equity, portfolio management and a well-rounded knowledge of finances, and real estate he brings the perfect spark to our team in all areas of practice. He is an avid traveler who has enjoyed many different countries and life experiences throughout. Steven’s passion did not only include travelling, as he also found a devoted love for assisting companies with the building of ecofriendly tourist destinations in a third world country.
    In his spare time, he enjoys camping, martial arts and reading books, while his passion for business helps our firm strive to be the best there is.

    Brandon Teo

    Brandon is currently a law student at Lakehead University where he is eagerly awaiting his call to the bar. Prior to attending law school, Brandon graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in Economics and Political Science and a minor in History. Brandon previously worked at an immigration legal clinic where he helped clients from all over the world. Having himself attended twelve different schools in eight different cities across three different countries, Brandon understands what it takes to meet the diverse needs of various clients from different backgrounds. In addition, having served in the military for two years, Brandon is unafraid to tackle any challenge set before him, and will fight his hardest for his clients’ success. Outside of the office, Brandon enjoys trying foods from different cultures and
    travelling. He has also recently discovered a passion for flying and hopes to obtain his pilot’s license by the end of the year.

    Daniela started her journey as a young entrepreneur alongside her family in 2015 and has been an eager member of the workforce ever since. Since owning her family business, she has learned the ins and outs of what it takes to be an entrepreneur today, which equipped her with the skills needed to successfully run an office and to understand the needs of people from all walks of life. Customer service is her forte and she brings a wealth of experience to Aion Law Partners LLP, and an enthusiasm felt by clients and the team alike.

    Having such a multi-faceted experience in running a business, Daniela is able to create long lasting relationships and help ensure clients feel they have a trusted source to rely on. As a receptionist with Aion Law Partners, her strengths are appreciated everyday with everyone she interacts with, and her positive energy is contagious.

    After work and on weekends, Daniela enjoys spending time with her family and being the mother to her two beautiful children, who more than keep her on her toes!

    Alyssa joined Aion Law in June 2021 to begin her career in the legal field after completing the Paralegal program at Humber College. She hopes to attend law school in the future, but currently enjoys her role in the administrative and clerical side of the legal profession. She is taking her extensive background in customer service to help cultivate genuine and lasting relationships with our clients. She is diligent and very detail-oriented, enabling her to work in tandem with the rest of the team to ensure accuracy and efficacy when working on our client files.

    Outside of the office, she is a mom to three active children – if she is not at the dance studio with her daughter, you can be sure to find her at the baseball diamond with her boys.

    Ingrid is the Office Manager at Aion Law Partners LLP. After earning her diploma in Office Administration- Executive Administrative Assistant from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in 2005, she entered the workforce and worked in similar capacities in industries from medical to financial. She finally found her place when she joined the field of law in 2013.
    Ingrid enjoys her role with the firm and always provides assistance when and where she can. She thrives in this environment, where she continuously has the opportunity to learn.

    Outside of the office, Ingrid enjoys all kinds of activities, but her favourite past-time is spending time with her family, whether it’s playing board games or simply watching a movie. She also enjoys baking, cooking and grilling (all seasons), and unwinding with a good book and a cup of coffee on a rainy day.
